Referencing my turnarounds of the head and pose for my character design I have started to sculpt a reference model for and animated film.
To start, I have overlayed the wire frame in my front view to cut and bend into the correct scale armature. This will be a static model so I do not have to construct any moving joints. The head piece consists of a bust which I will fit in front of the wire spine and fix into place once the fur coat is built up around the body for the bust to sit in. I initially bulked out my armature with milliput and balls of thin wire to give strength to the armature and fix it in position.
On the head piece, I have applied a thin layer of sculpy firm to build up the facial features. Once I was happy with the basic arrangement of the features and proportions I baked this piece to "save" what I have done.
